Balloon makes school visit

A VISIT from a hot air balloon was a highlight of a week of special events and activities at a village school.

Trips and sports were also on the timetable for Pucklechurch C of E Primary School’s health and well-being week.

Deputy head teacher Gemma Jones said: “Well-being is one of the most important things we teach our children about.

“Each year, we plan a health and well-being week to place self-care and well-being at the centre of our learning.

“As well as the traditional sports day events, we plan a range of events to give children unique experiences and opportunities to learn skills they perhaps wouldn’t ordinarily encounter. Year 5 and 6 enjoyed a laser tag session, year 3 and 4 visited Chepstow Castle and the school was visited by Bristol’s own Cameron Balloons, who pitched a hot air balloon on our school field! The children learned about how they work and got to find out what it was like to run an iconic, local company.

“The children also practised mindful techniques for relaxation and learned the valuable skills of personal finance management.”
