A SOCIAL media star who grew up in Emersons Green has received an honorary doctorate.
George Clarke, who was the runner-up in the final of BBC show Strictly Come Dancing last year and has millions of followers on TikTok and YouTube, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Arts from Bath Spa University at its graduation ceremony at the end of July, “in recognition of his outstanding contribution to contemporary entertainment, digital media and the creative arts”.
The university said: “George Clarke is a creator, podcaster and entertainer whose innovative approach to digital storytelling has made him one of the UK’s most influential creative voices.” George congratulated the university’s graduates on receiving their “real-life degrees” and added: “Once you test yourself once, each time afterwards it becomes easier. And suddenly you realise the judgement doesn’t hurt…unless it’s from Craig Revel Horwood, in which case you’ll be bringing it up almost a year later at any possible public event.”
