A BUS service serving Pucklechurch is being axed after losing its funding from the West of England Combined Authority.
The 532 service linking the village to Emersons Green, Warmley, Oldland Common, Bitton, Longwell Green and Cadbury Heath, was only set up in September 2024, one of eight WESTlocal routes championed by former Metro Mayor Dan Norris.
Devised with input from four parish councils, including Pucklechurch, services originally ran to Keynsham and Yate at some times of the day, but the route was later changed after a year, to serve Longwell Green.
People from Pucklechurch can still reach Yate, using the Stagecoach 525 service.
The Voice asked WECA why the decision to withdraw the service was taken but had not received a response by the time the paper went to print.
Main operator First has announced a series of changes to other bus services, including some revisions to the timetable for 48x services between Emersons Green and the centre and 49x services from Lyde Green.
Timings are being adjusted to accommodate more services on other routes using Fishponds Road, including the 47x from Oldbury Court.
The 48 from Downend and the 49 from Staple Hill to the city centre via Stapleton Road will both have their frequency cut from every 30 to every 40 minutes on average as part of the changes.
The m3 metrobus service is not being changed.
Details of all changes to bus services from April 5 can be found online at travelwest.info/bus.
Metro Mayor Helen Godwin has announced that the £1 cap on child fares is being extended until Spring 2029 as part of a fares support package for bus passengers.
