Mum’s hospice challenge

A MUM from Emersons Green is taking on an ‘ultra challenge’ to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West.

Mum-of-two Jo Titterton, aged 48, has signed up to walk 50km with her sister Therese Wheeler on April 6, walking from Windsor racecourse to Staines in Surrey and back.

Jo runs a face-painting business and has supported the charity, which cares for children and young people with life-limiting conditions, on several of its fundraising events in the past, including the Rainbow Run and Santas on the Run.

During the pandemic she ran across the Chiltern Hills to raise £1,400 for charity.

She said: “We have visited Charlton Farm a number of times, speaking to the families, staff and volunteers.

“The work which is done there is just incredible. Not just the support it gives to the affected children but the families and their siblings.”

Jo has been preparing for the latest challenge by going out on lengthy walks in the local area.

She said: “I’ve been sent a training plan, which has really helped, but mostly I’ve been going out walking around Bristol to try and prepare.

“It’s about building up my pace and stamina for this event.

“I’ve been busy stomping the streets.”

Jo has set up a Just Giving page with a target of £500 and has already raised £190.
