MORE than 600 children from Mangotsfield C of E Primary School took part in two days of sport in the May sunshine.
Younger pupils had their sports day at the school in Church Farm Road, Emersons Green, while children in Year 5 & 6 headed to Pomphrey Hill playing fields, with parents there to provide support at both events.
Children lived up to the Olympic motto – “Faster, higher, stronger – together” – as they took on challenges from egg and spoon races for younger learners to a 400m race for those in year 5 & 6. Other activities included a 75m sprint, bean bag and javelin throws, speed bounce and long jump.
PE co-ordinator Becky Sambrook-Powell said: “Each child competed in a throwing, jumping and running event.
“Both days were a huge success and the children should feel extremely proud of their participation.
“We are very lucky at ‘Team Mango’ to have so many children who have a real talent in sport.
“The school would like to thank all of the parents and carers for taking the time to come and support the children.”
