LYDE Green Community Association’s Summer Sizzler lived up to its name with a sun-baked day of activities and entertainment.
Stalls, attractions and rides took over the car park in School Square, while for those who needed some time out of the sun there was plenty to do inside the community centre, including a puppet show, games and a hall packed with inflatables to bounce on.
Animal lovers were able to meet Zara the Sheltand pony, brought by Naturally Healing Yoga, and get hands-on with the snakes, tortoises and millipedes of Bristol Reptile Encounters.
LGCA charity and centre manager Helen Crew said: “What a fantastic day it was!
“We loved spending the day in the sunshine with our wonderful community and seeing so many smiling faces enjoying everything the event had to offer.
“We can’t wait to do it all again next year – we already have some exciting plans.”
The event was made possible thanks to a team of volunteers and sponsors, including Emersons Green Town Council, which provided a grant to enable the LGCA to provide a range of free activities, including a workshop where children could create their own custom vinyl record graffiti artwork.
Helen said: “Any parent will know just how valuable it is to have access to high-quality, free activities for children, and we are incredibly grateful for the council’s continued investment in our community.”
Thanks also went to LGCA trustees who helped run everything from the raffle and badge stall to securing the car park to keep it free for the stalls and visitors.
The raffle was supported by donations from local businesses including Botteginos, Aerospace Bristol, Five Elliements Therapy and Cook Stars Bristol North.
Helen said: “Thank you to everyone who came along, bought raffle tickets, supported our stallholders, took part in the activities and helped create such a lovely atmosphere.
“Events like Summer Sizzler are only possible because of the incredible community spirit that exists here in Lyde Green and Emersons Green.”
