Hundreds join the scarecrow trail

HUNDREDS of people turned out for the annual Pucklechurch Scarecrow Competition and Trail.

This year the event, organised by St Thomas a Becket Church, had the theme: “For a day I would like to be…”

More than 40 scarecrows were created by villagers for the Early May bank holiday weekend, featuring characters ranging from King Charles to Bananas in Pyjamas.

The winner was A Wizard and the lucky dip winner was A Brownie.

A spokesperson for the organisers said: “The scarecrow trail brings people together and it is lovely to see families and friends enjoying it in the church and around the village.

“We are so grateful to the businesses, organisations and residents who supported us.

“We raised a record sum this year that will help us serve our community. However, this event is not only about fundraising but also about creating community and flourishing relationships.”
